Last weekend, my family and I attended the annual Pungo Strawberry Festival here in Virginia Beach. It's a fun event that includes a parade, carnival rides and animals for the kids, military displays, and of course food! Anything you can think of made with strawberries - strawberry smoothies, strawberry shortcake, chocolate-covered strawberries on a stick, even strawberry tacos (yummy!). Also made with strawberries is a really good, spicy BBQ sauce made by some nice people who live in my favorite two-story white house in the heart of Pungo. It was the outside design of this house that inspired me to be Jen's house in my Angel books, Starlight Wishes and Sunrise Kisses. I just love the look of it and how far back off the road it is, and yet it's in the middle of all the fun of Pungo. I bought some of their BBQ sauce this year, which has a picture of the house right on the label. It is also available for sale at the farmer stand, BayBreeze Farms, on the road to Sandbridge - a place I mention in Sunrise Kisses. I also took a pic of my "Jen's" house, all decorated for Memorial Day. Isn't it lovely?
