Wet Nurse

"I found a wet nurse." ~from Chapter 37, "Wellington Cross". My friend Sherrie, who is also an author, helped me come up with the idea of a wet nurse. She's a big Civil War buff, and I had the problem in my story of the mom of a baby dying and how to feed that baby. It had been my plan to let the baby drink cow's milk or goat's milk until Madeline was able to feed the baby herself, but when my friend presented me with the wet nurse, I liked that idea much better. It corresponded with what a lot of women had to do back then, before formulas were invented. ~January 25, 2013
