Welcome, romance lovers...
Hey there! Welcome to my world, my escape from reality. I'm the author of the historical romance Wellington Cross series, the paranormal romance Angel series, and coming soon, a historical romance Wellington Patriot series.
Happy December! This is a busy time of year with the holidays coming up and parties to attend and friends and family to gather with. I will be going to Busch Gardens’ Christmas Town this month with my husband and friends – it’s a yearly tradition to put us in the proper holiday mood with its thousands of lights! I will also be attending parties and other festive events, and spend Christmas with my husband’s family. I hope you are able to enjoy the season and also take time for yourself to relax with a book.
I'm currently writing a new romance series, called the Wellington Patriot series, which will be set during the 1700s. Book one, Voyage of the Heart, begins in England and Ireland and then my characters meet on a ship that takes them to the American Colonies on the eve of the Revolutionary War. I will be sending it to proofreaders soon. Many thanks to Carpe Librum Book Design, who designed this cover for me. You can read more about this book under the Voyage of the Heart tab.

Whispers From the Past
(Book Three in the Angel Series)
After Sarah Wellington Barnes mourned the death of her Navy SEAL husband for six months, she needed a change of scenery and decided to move to an old plantation called Misty Hill in Charles City County, Virginia. The plantation belonged to her late husband's family but had been neglected in recent years. When she gets there, she is surprised to find a man living in the cottage behind the house. A handsome man who may be related to her late husband, but he makes it clear he doesn't want a relationship with her. He only wants to help fix up the old plantation. But when he comforts her after a break-in at the plantation, Sarah can't fight her growing attraction to him.
Sarah's fifteen-year-old daughter Tori spent six months in anger and depression but since coming to the old plantation house has felt a sweet spirit which has helped her get much-needed sleep. She is what some people might call a ghost whisperer. She can feel and sometimes see spirits that have passed on. She finds an old diary which leads her to clues about who the female spirit may be. Competing with her attention is a dark entity that brings fear to her heart. Could the answers to who the dark spirit is be revealed in that same diary? Meanwhile, she tries to live a normal life with new friends, new family, and a new job in Colonial Williamsburg. However, after traveling to England for the summer, she discovers that her life is in danger. Will it be any better when she returns home, or will danger follow her?
I was born and raised in Johnson City, Tennessee, and went to college at East Tennessee State University before marrying my high school sweetheart and moving to Virginia Beach, Virginia. I started writing as a hobby when I was in college after purchasing a couple of Southern Heritage cookbooks, which were filled with pages of beautiful old plantation homes. I used to sit outside in my backyard and type on a manual typewriter at a picnic table under tall maple trees. I continued writing after moving to Virginia Beach and visiting beautifully restored homes in Williamsburg as well as plantations on the James River. My day job has been medical and legal transcription while writing on the side, and I self-published my first book in December 2012. I enjoy the freedom and creativity of self-publishing. My book, Sunrise Kisses, was a finalist in the 2018 Golden Quill Award Contest sponsored by Golden Box Books Publishing. Also, Wellington Cross, my debut novel, was nominated in the 2017 Top Female Author award, Wellington Letters was nominated for the 2018 Top Female Author award, and Whispers From the Past was nominated for the 2019 Top Female Author award. I love being outside in nature and enjoy visiting historical homes and gardens, reading, traveling, gardening, taking walks, doing yoga, and spending time with family and friends. I am still married to my sweetheart after 31 years, and we have one son and a Havanese dog. If you'd like to read a recent interview of me by AllAuthor, click here.
First of all, I love writing about romance. To me, the best stories are about love and relationships. So that's what I write about. I have two series of books so far, one from the past and one for the present. The first series I have published is the Wellington Cross Series, which is set in the late 1800s on plantations along the James River in Virginia. The second series I have written is the Angel Series, which is set in modern times in Virginia Beach about angels and their interactions with humans.
I live in Virginia Beach and I like writing about this area. I've been living here for 31 years now and I love it. There is so much to do close by. There are miles and miles of beautiful beaches, sand dunes, trails, and many bodies of water: the ocean, the bay, and many rivers, canals, and manmade lakes. Also nearby are Colonial Williamsburg and the James River Plantations, which inspired me to write historical novels. I have toured many historical plantations and homes, and they help me to picture stories in my head so I can then write it down.
All of my books are available on Kindle through Amazon and also in paperback through Amazon, Barnes & Noble (by order), and CreateSpace. Amazon has a special - if you order the paperback version through them, you get the Kindle version for FREE! I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.
